11-22-09 Ridgefield, NJ - 4th Alarm

November 22, 3009 - At approx 1315 hrs, the Ridgefield Fire Department was notified by a passer-by of fire coming from a home on Alexander Avenue. Upon arrival firefighters found the basement on fire with heavy extension into the attic and starting to vent through the roof. Command requested a quick 2nd alarm followed by a 3rd alarm to respond to the scene. The house was a 2-1/2 story wood frame made of balloon construction. As fire condition deteriorated rapidly, Command requested a 4th alarm bringing firefighters from Palisades Park, Cliffside Park, Teaneck, Fairview responding to the scene. Two Ridgefield firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
