04-20-10 Tenafly, NJ - 2nd Alarm
April 20, 2010 - At approx 1440 hrs, the Tenafly Fire Department was dispatched for a reported attic fire at 253 West Clinton Avenue. First arriving police officers confimed heavy smoke coming from a 2-1/2 story wood frame. Fire Chief Richard Philpott arrives confirming a working fire and requests Englewood Ladder 1 for FAST but went to work and opened the roof, Englewood Chief Moran (Car 1), Dumont Rescue 3, Dumont Chief Byrd (210) and Asst. Chief Molinaro (211) and Cresskill Engine 1 who became the FAST.
The cause of the fire was that a tree company working at the house had pulled down the power lines to the home on the A, B corner. The fire extended into the walls and took over the attic. Fire crews made an aggressive interior attack and knocked down the flames The fire was placed under control around 1518 hrs. No injuries were reported.
