March 21, 2009 - The North West Bergen Mutual Aid and Bergen County Fire Academy holds a F.A.S.T Operations Drill. Drill stations included the Denver Drill, Mask Confidence and Auditory Search, Nance Drill, Basement Window Removal, Ladder Placement, Knot Review, Equipment Review and Calling the Mayday. Refreshments were provided by Teaneck Fire Departments Box 54.
MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the NWBMA Firefighter Assistance Safety Team (FAST) is to provide the most highly trained personnel to be readily available to initiate and affect a rescue of a downed, trapped, lost or disoriented firefighter in the event of an emergency. The team understands that it will be exposed to an extremely hazardous environment and shall use all the equipment and manpower necessary to rapidly access, medically evaluate, stabilze, treat and safely remove said firefighter(s) to a safe location and rendezvous with Emergency Medical Services (EMS), without causing additional threat to life and safety od said firefighters or themselves.
