Horry County, SC - 02/10/09
February 10th, 2009 - Horry County Station 20, Rescue 1 and Medic 31 were dispatched to an MVA on the Murrells Inlet-Horry County border with a car down an embankment. Engine-20, Brush 20, Medic 31, and Battalion 3 responded. While enroute, dispatch advised the call was in Murrells Inlet-Garden City's Fire District. Battalion 3 checked with MIGCFD to see if they wanted Horry County units to continue. Due to the steep embankment and location of the vehicle MIGC requested us to respond. MIGC E-1 arrived and assumed command of one vehicle overturned with one pinned. E-20, Brush 20, and Bat 3 arrived. Bat 3 was assigned OPS, Brush 20 was assigned LZ division, and E-20 was assigned to setup ladders and start stabilization. R-1 arrived and used Paratech rescue struts to stabilize the vehicle. The passenger door was removed and the pt was extricated. Brush 20 had set up a Landing zone and landed Carolina Lifecare on scene. Pt was taken up the embankment in a stokes with a 2:1 system.
