Myrtle Beach, SC - 04/22/09

April 22, 2009 - About 19,200 acres were burned in the wildfire, which began on Wednesday April 22, 2009. More than 70 homes were destroyed, and another 96 were damaged in the North Myrtle Beach and unincorporated Horry County area. Firefighters from all over SC have been working together 24 hours a day since last Wednesday. The National Guard was called in for air drops with bambi buckets. The fire is now 100% contained, and crews are still working on hot spots and small pockets of burning areas.
