September 13, 2009 - Today our Brothers from Western Galilee Fire and Rescue shared breakfast with members of the Ramsey Fire Department and was able to tour their headquarters, apparatus and fire museum. Afterwards they exchanged t-shirts and other gifts before heading to the fire academy. As I arrived at the academy the Fort Lee Fire Department Rappel Team were going through their paces rappelling off the roof of the 5 story tower. Shortly afterwards our guests arrived and went right to work rappelling along side Fort Lee. After that they were able to practice auto extrication technique's and how to removed a victim with their head stuck in a fence or railing.
When the morning session was over they cleaned up and headed to the Headquarters of the Ridgewood Fire Department for lunch. Once there our guests shared sandwiches and swapped stories and then had a full tour of the station and equipment. Several members were able to slide down the pole from the 2nd floor bunk room to the apparatus bay. After that members exchanged t-shirts and handshakes and then hopped on the bus and headed out to do some shopping.
