Hackensack, NJ Firefighter Dennis Walker
June 15, 2011 - Hackensack, NJ Firefighter Dennis Walker.
Dennis Michael Walker, 51, of Metuchen, died Wednesday at his home.
Born in Jersey City, he resided in Union City before moving to Metuchen 18 years ago.
He grauated from Saint Aloysius High School in Jersey City.
During his 29 years of service with the Hackensack Fire Department, Dennis received numerous citations of valor which included:
The Hackensack Fire Department 2008 Firefighter of the Year Award and The 200 Club John R. Rinaldi Award in Recognition of Outstanding Service and Dedication.
In addition, Dennis served countless hours at the 9-11 Search and Recovery at Ground Zero
He was a life long Rangers, Yankees and Giants fan.
Dennis was a proud American who truly loved his family and the brotherhood of firemen who served along side him.
He is predeceased by his parents James and Mary Walker and his father-in-law John L. Buzzi.
Surviving are his loving wife of 18 years, Beth Anne (Buzzi) Walker; his brother James Walker of Parkridge and sister Kathleen Cody and her husband John of Wall; nieces and nephews James, Michael and Joseph Walker, John Cody and Sharon Judge, John, Christopher and Alexander Buzzi and James, Robert and William LaPorta; his mother-in-law Betty Anne Buzzi; sister-in-law Lee Anne LaPorta and her husband James; 2 brother-in-laws John L. Buzzi and Brad W. Buzzi and his wife Jennifer.
Wake services will be Saturday, June 18, 2001 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral services will take place Monday June 20, 2011 at 9:45am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt.27) Metuchen followed by a 10:15am Funeral Mass at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen.
Interment is at Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen.
