River Edge, NJ E.M.T. Matthew Pellettere

January 16, 2011 - Line Of Duty Death of REVAS member Matthew Pellettere, a 37-year-old probationary member of the River Edge Volunteer Ambulance Service (REVAS), died of a heart attack Sunday after attempting to respond to an emergency call.

Pellettere arrived at the REVAS building on Continental Avenue shortly after the ambulance had departed, around 9:48 a.m., according to Joseph Zemaites, captain of the ambulance squad.

When the REVAS crew returned from their call they found Pellettere unresponsive on the ground in the driveway of the REVAS building, according to Capt. Zemaites. The EMTs began performing CPR and transported him to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment of a possible heart attack. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
