Tarrytown, NY Firefighter John Kelly

September 06, 2010 - Tarrytown, NY Volunteer Firefighter John Kelly lost his life while attempting the rescue of Tarrytown Village Department of Public Works employee Anthony Ruggiero who is also a firefighter collapsed in a man hole while investigating a sewer back up was himself overcome. Both men were rescued by other Tarrytown firefighters and rushed to waiting Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps ambulances while being given CPR. They were taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla where they were pronounced dead.
